Electronics Arts have taken their popular soccer franchise and adapting it to fit the demands and limitations of mobile devices with FIFA Soccer. And while it obviously can't match the production values or horsepower of the mainline games, the mobile adaptation competently adapts the experience while retaining much of the same magic.

A big part of that authenticity comes down purely to licensing. Almost all of the leagues and clubs are represented here, and all the details are meticulously recreated. All told, 50,000 players are available, with 100 or more legendary players to add to your roster. And the free-to-play model means that there's frequent new additions to the game. That also means you don't have to buy a new copy of the same game with each passing year.

FIFA Soccer is a game that continues to add new modes and content even a few years into its existence, but the core experience still takes its inspiration from the console-based FIFA franchise. The constant influx of new content and special events largely gravitates around the game's Ultimate Team mode. Here, you'll slowly collect different players to add to your team. Players are unlocked by opening packs, which are randomized and bought with in-game currency.

Unlocking Icons can be as much a matter of luck as anything, but there's plenty of content to keep you moving forward on the treadmill. Weekly ICON events provide you with more opportunities to unlock the game's best characters, and integrated RPG elements allow you to train an ordinary player into a superstar with enough time and patience.

Both player vs. player and player vs. event content is available in FIFA Soccer, and the game play on the field is a serviceable if simplified approach to what console players can experience. Users looking to just play as their favorite teams can do so in League Matchups - direct competitive events that pit 11-player real world teams against one another. There are even extensive leagues and seasons that encourage players to go head-to-heaed against other live players for the best rewards. The gameplay and graphics may be oversimplified compared to what you play on your TV, but it captures the spirit of the sport - and EA's microtransaction-driven franchise - to a tee.
